Privacy Policy

1. Information We Collect

When you use our website, contact us, check a location, or request a contractor introduction, we may collect the following types of information:

  • Personal Information: Name, email address, phone number, and property address
  • Project Information: Details about your fencing project, including project type and specific requirements
  • Fire Impact Information: Information about whether you were affected by recent fires (optional)
  • Communication Data: Messages and correspondence you send to us
  • Technical Information: IP address, browser type, device information, and website usage data

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Return fire-hazard-zone and public contractor-record information
  • Communicate with you about your question or project
  • At your request, ask selected contractors whether they want an introduction
  • Make an introduction after the contractor responds and you have authorized the disclosure
  • Improve, secure, and measure our website and research tools
  • Comply with legal obligations
  • Send marketing communications only when permitted; you may opt out

For the public location checker, the street address, city, and optional ZIP code are sent to the U.S. Census Geocoder. The returned coordinates are used to query public fire-hazard and local-responsibility layers. Firewise does not retain the raw address or coordinates from this lookup step. Aggregate analytics record whether a lookup completed and whether a zone verdict was available, not the address or coordinates.

3. Information Sharing

We do not send your name, email, phone number, or exact property address in the initial contractor-interest notice. We may disclose information in the following circumstances:

  • Service Providers: With trusted third-party service providers who assist us in operating our website and conducting our business
  • Legal Requirements: When required by law or to protect our rights and safety
  • Business Transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of business assets
  • Homeowner-Requested Introduction: With the contractor or contractors you ask us to contact, after the introduction conditions shown to you are met
  • With Your Direction or Consent: When you otherwise direct or explicitly consent to sharing

Firewise does not currently sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. If that practice changes, we will update this policy and provide any notice and choices required by law before the change applies.

4. Data Security

We use technical and organizational safeguards intended to protect personal information. No internet transmission or storage system is completely secure. Safeguards may include:

  • Secure data transmission using SSL encryption
  • Limited access to personal information on a need-to-know basis
  • Secure storage of data with reputable service providers

5. Your Rights

Depending on where you live and which law applies, you may have the right to:

  • Access: Request information about the personal data we collect and how we use it
  • Deletion: Request deletion of your personal information
  • Correction: Request correction of inaccurate personal information
  • Opt-Out: Opt out of certain sales, sharing, or marketing communications where applicable
  • Non-Discrimination: Not be discriminated against for exercising your privacy rights

To exercise these rights, please contact us using the information provided below.

8. Data Retention

We retain personal information only as long as reasonably necessary for the disclosed purpose, including responding to an inquiry, completing a requested contractor introduction, maintaining security and correction records, and meeting legal obligations. The period depends on the type of record and whether an introduction or dispute remains open. We delete or de-identify information when it is no longer reasonably necessary, subject to legal requirements.

9. Children's Privacy
